UPDATE:
Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) seized over 1,600 cannabis plants in Ameliasburgh Ward in Prince Edward County on Thursday, the second of such police actions in Prince Edward County this week.
CSCU officers, along with members of the Prince Edward County OPP Detachment, executed a search warrant on September 24, 2020 on County Road 28 at a greenhouse near the Fenwood Gardens subdivision.
In addition to the plants, investigators seized a generator and a variety of property and equipment used for the production of cannabis. Two people were arrested in the area.
The following individuals were arrested and charged with Cultivate, propagate or harvest more than four cannabis plants contrary to Cannabis Act (CA) sec. 12(4)(b):
· Wen Zhui CHEN, age 45 from Markham
· Shenghui LI, age 38 from Hamilton
The accused individuals have been released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on December 2, 2020.

Thursday’s bust is the second conducted by the OPP this week in Prince Edward County. Earlier this week, Police confiscated over 2,000 illegal cannabis plants at a Jericho Road address.
According to the OPP Communications officer Constable Aaron Miller, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) seized nearly 2,300 cannabis plants in Sophiasburgh Ward in Prince Edward County Tuesday morning .
CSCU officers, along with members of the Prince Edward County OPP Detachment, OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) executed a search warrant.
Investigators seized nearly 2,300 cannabis plants, two tractors, a number of generators, a variety of power tools, a rifle, approximately $475 in Canadian Currency and a variety of equipment used for the production of cannabis. Four people were arrested in the area.
The following individuals were arrested and charged with Cultivate, propagate or harvest more than four cannabis plants contrary to section 12(4)(b) Cannabis Act (CA) sec. 12(4)(b) and Possession of proceeds obtained by crime – Criminal Code (CC) sec. 354(1)(a):
· Chaofeng YU, age 42, no fixed address
· Xiaofei CHU, age 34 from Scarborough
· Zhenmin ZHANG, age 58, no fixed address
· Heng ZHAO, age 39 from Scarborough
The accused individuals have been released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on December 2, 2020.
