Douglas Romkey, 58, of Victoria, British Columbia, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on February 4, 2018. He was born in St. John’s Newfoundland on January 6, 1960. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Colleen Neeland, daughter Tara (Michael) Parsons, son Christopher Romkey, mother Beverly Nelson, brothers Bruce Romkey, Garth Romkey, sisters Theresa Romkey, Julianne Gurdebeke, Kathy Blair and six grandchildren Rebeckah, Isabella, Dominick, Bristol, Jonas and Delilah. He was predeceased by his father Douglas Romkey. Jeff grew up in small town Ontario where as a youth he was very active in his local church. He played sports including Football and Broomball where he met some of his life long friends. After joining the military in the late 1970’s Jeff relocated to Victoria, BC where he lived most of his life. He worked hard as a Drywaller and was very skilled at his trade. In his spare time he enjoyed racing at Western Speedway, playing pool at the Legion, spending time with family and friends. But mostly he loved visiting with his grandchildren. Jeff was an avid gamer and an exceptional conversationalist, he was well read, keeping up with current events and had an in depth knowledge of history. He was easy to talk to and relateable. Jeff was a kind and loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother and Friends. He will be greatly missed by all.
