Upgrades at municipally owned and operated tennis courts in Picton and Wellington are forcing the temporary closure of facilities in those communities starting Monday.

The County of Prince Edward announced that construction on both the courts in Picton and Wellington will commence Monday.

At Benson Park, the work is expected to be one week in duration as the court construction project which commenced last fall is finalized with surface paint and lines.

In Wellington, work on the double court on Niles st. will be more extensive and the courts there will be closed for six weeks.

The municipality reports that heavy equipment may limit visibility in the area and noise levels will be elevated for the duration of the work.

Repairs to the tennis courts at Bloomfield’ Mill Pond Conservation Area and Park are expected to get underway at a later date once the Picton court project is finished.
