Smile cookie campaign to benefit Hospital Foundation

Next week, patrons at Tim Hortons restaurants in Picton and Wellington can take a bite of a delicious cookie and feel good about supporting the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation.

For one week starting Monday, Sept. 17, Tim Hortons guests can purchase a freshly baked chocolate chunk Smile Cookie for $1 at either the Picton and Wellington restaurants and 100 per cent of the proceeds will be proudly donated by restaurant owners Paul and Valerie Massey to PECMHF.

The Smile Cookie campaign has been successful year after year thanks to our loyal guests and their kindness and support,” Massey said. “We are honoured to support the PECMHF for a fifth year in a row.”

The PECMHF is an independent, registered charity that raises funds to help renovate and maintain our County hospital and to purchase medical equipment such as vital signs monitors, diagnostic tools, scopes and much more.

We are thrilled to have been selected as the recipients of this worthy program. Since partnering with Tim Hortons, the Smile Cookie program locally has raised in excess of $23,000 for priority medical equipment needs for our County hospital,” said Monica Alyea, chairperson of the PECMHF. “It’s vital for our community to continue to ensure our County hospital is equipped with the latest technology to keep it relevant. The government does not pay for medical equipment. It has always been the responsibility of the community to fund medical equipment needs. We hope our community will see this special fundraising week at Tim Hortons as another sign that we are all committed to building a vibrant future for PECMH.”

The Smile Cookie campaign started in 1996 to help raise funds for the Hamilton Children’s Hospital in Ontario and has grown to become a major fundraising event at Tim Hortons restaurants. With blue eyes and a pink smile, the Smile Cookie has become an iconic symbol of the commitment of Tim Hortons guests and restaurant owners to strengthen their communities.

In 2018, more than 530 Charities/Organizations in Communities across Canada will benefit from the Smile Cookie Campaign.
