A local insurance brokerage is making a healthy contribution to the redevelopment of Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital.
For more than 70 years, McDougall Insurance has provided families and businesses with quality insurance they can count on. Today, Eastern Ontario’s largest insurance brokerage is investing in the healthy future of Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital (PECMH) with a $50,000 donation to the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation’s Back the Build Campaign.
McDougall Insurance prides itself on providing reliable 24/7 dedication and genuine care to their clients so the decision to Back the Build was made without any hesitation. Many staff and stakeholders of McDougall’s enjoy life in Prince Edward County and have made and still make use of PECMH.
“Ensuring we have the best care for the members of our community and region on a 24/7 basis is important to McDougall Insurance. This is why we’ve made this gift towards the building of a new home for PECMH,” said Don Stanton Jr., President of McDougall Insurance and Financial. “No matter if you live along one of the beautiful waterways surrounding our island, on one of the many farms strung eloquently across the County, meshed into the town centre, or are simply just visiting, we want to ensure peace of mind that you can always receive health care services in our tight-knit community.”
The PECMH Foundation is grateful for McDougall Insurance’s partnership in helping them prepare for the building of a new hospital in beautiful Prince Edward County.
“We are excited to announce this generous gift for the new hospital. McDougall Insurance has provided outstanding leadership with their gift to our Back the Build Campaign,” said Shannon Coull, executive director of the PECMH Foundation. “Their support will help ensure a new facility will be built, so those needing medical attention in our community will continue to receive the best care possible,”
It is with great anticipation the redevelopment planning partners move forward with the process to build a new hospital in Prince Edward County. The current hospital has a reputation for providing great care, but the building is over 60 years old. With state-of-the-art design and infrastructure, the new hospital will offer the same services as today but with an improved setting with a state-of-the-art emergency department that will be equipped with the latest medical technology and staffed with our skilled and dedicated health care professionals, better able to diagnose, stabilize and treat incoming patients.
Inside the hospitals walls will be a suite of clinics to provide, among other medical services, endoscopy and dialysis treatment to patients from across our region. And it’ll have 18 inpatient rooms that will be larger and be equipped with their own washroom.
“This incredible gift brings us one step closer to building a new hospital,” said Nancy Parks, campaign co-chair. “It’s inspiring to see the community come together in support of a new Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital. McDougall Insurance has shown great dedication and generosity over the past 12 years in both building our new hospital and giving back to it. Their contribution will make a significant impact on how health care is delivered in our community for years to come and will help motivate others to help Back the Build. We are extremely grateful for their gift today.”
When it comes to insurance, McDougall wants to make sure you get what you need and want so you can be rest assured you are prepared for anything.
“We’re exceptionally proud to make this gift to the Foundation to help ensure families continue to have access to the care they need, here at home,” said Stanton. “Our employees in the Picton, Wellington and regional offices have a deep connection to this community, and McDougall Insurance wanted to show our support and give to the hospital many of us grew up with. Through community programs, volunteer work and charitable giving, McDougall remains deeply committed to improving the quality of life in all of the communities in which our employees live and work,” said Stanton.
McDougall’s contribution propelled the total raised for the PECMH Foundation’s Back the Build Campaign to just over $11.3 million. The company has been giving to PECMHF’s equipment campaign for 12 years prior to today’s announcement.
Giving back to the communities they’re a part of has always been important to the brokers and staff at McDougall Insurance and Financial.
“Our new hospital will better serve the needs of our patients,” added Coull. “This will greatly improve their quality of life and help the families that care for them.”
