ERT, Canine unit involved in short man hunt in Consecon

A Prince Edward County man was scheduled to appear in Belleville’s Bail court today in relation to a break and enter early this morning.

On Wednesday May 26, 2021 shortly after 12:30 a.m., members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a break and enter to a residence in Consecon.

The report stated an individual had entered the residence. Officers arrived on scene to learn the suspect had fled the scene. With the assistance of the OPP East Region Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team (ERT), the suspect was located and arrested a short time later. As a result, Kevin Cook, 52, from Prince Edward County was charged with the following criminal offences:

·        Break and enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence – CC 348(1)(a)

The individual was held in custody for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on May 26.
