Traffic complaint leads to drug charges on Paul St.

A trio of Perth residents have a court date in Picton later next month after a traffic stop netted them a slew of drug charges

On Sunday May 7, 2023 around 1:30 p.m. officers received a report of a possible impaired driver leaving an address on Bridge Street in Picton.

Officers located and stopped the vehicle on Paul Street and further investigation led to the arrest of the driver who was transported to detachment for further testing.

Two other occupants were also arrested as result of further investigation. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a quantity of suspected fentanyl, a quantity of suspected cocaine, a quantity of suspected hydromorphone, Canadian currency, cell phones and other assorted drug paraphernalia.

With the assistance of the East Region Community Street Crime Unit, three individuals were charged.

Michael Lewis, 43 from Perth, Timothy Garrett, 38 from Perth and Kevin Sincennes, 43 from Perth were all charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking – Other drugs
  • Possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking – Other drugs

Lewis was further charged with operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired- blood drug concentration.

Sincennes was also charged with possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000.

All three individuals were released and are to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on June 21, 2023.

The OPP would like to thank the public for their assistance in reporting impaired drivers. People should not hesitate to contact police should they believe someone to be impaired.
