How can we use abstraction to paint the feeling of a place?

In this 5 week class designed for both beginners and advanced artists, led by painter Megan Fitzgerald, students will create an abstracted landscape painting on canvas. Participants will start by learning or reviewing the elements of design to build a valuable foundation. From there, students will be guided through methods in abstraction such as intuitive drawing, alternative mark-making and acrylic mediums. These explorations are combined with analysis of modern and contemporary artists who create abstracted paintings inspired by nature.

Age range – 15+

6 Wednesday evenings from 6-8 PM, February 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th, March 5th and 12th, 2025 at The County Arts Lab, Unit 2E, Picton Armoury Building.
