Arts
September 6–October 11
9.30am
In this 6-week art course led by artist instructor Sara Keller, young artists learn colour theory through play, experimentation, and collaborative creation. Each week, participants will use accessible materials—like paper lanterns, coffee filters, recycled water bottles and more—to build vivid, textured components that will come together in a final group installation on display for the Department of Illumination’s Lantern Festival on November 7th and 8th!
Students will gain hands-on experience in colour theory, 3D construction, surface design, and composition. The course emphasizes creativity, cooperation, and confidence as students learn to think like installation artists in a collective. The class will finally curate and install their artwork, exploring spatial relationships and visual storytelling.
6 Saturday mornings from 9:30-10:45 AM for ages 5-8: September 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th, October 4th & 18th, 2025 (no class October 11th, Thanksgiving weekend).
