Prince Edward Community Theatre brings to life the iconic play a heartwarming and bittersweet play Steel Magnolias, by Robert Harling.
Steel Magnolias explores the strength, resilience, and deep bonds of friendship among a group of Southern women in a small Louisiana town. Set primarily in Truvy’s beauty salon, the play follows the lives of six women—each with their own quirks, struggles, and triumphs—who support one another through laughter and tears. At the center of the story is Shelby, a young woman with diabetes, whose determination to live life on her own terms deeply impacts those around her, particularly her strong-willed mother, M’Lynn. Blending humor and heartbreak, Steel Magnolias is a touching celebration of love, friendship, and the unbreakable spirit of women.
Directed by Bailey Mulridge, Steel Magnolias features PECT regulars Lori Farrington as Clairee, Cheryl Singer as Truvy, Lynne Donovan as M’Lynn and Jen Sills as Ouiser. Newcomers are Kat Burns as Annelle and Emma Woodman as Shelby.
Opens on Saturday April 5 at 7:30 pm. Evening shows at 7: 30 pm on Wednesday April 9, Friday April 11 and Saturday April 12. Matinees at 2:00 pm on Sunday April 6 and Sunday April 13.
