May 7–June 4
5.30–7.30pm
How can we heal the wounds of intergenerational trauma and oppression by dreaming up the future on our own terms? What does it look like to imagine ourselves and our communities into the future – by drawing from our own magic, ancestries, mythologies, cosmologies and creatively surviving and thriving in times to come? How do we conjure alternatives that explore and expand our current realities?
In this course, we will bring visionary futures to life through a blend of creative writing, visual art, zine-making, mixed-media collage, sharing and discussion. Ideal for folks who are inspired by genre-bending, science/speculative fiction, experimental memoir, and creative non-fiction genres, and those who come with varying abilities/experiences but are especially keen on developing their storytelling skills in a group setting. Maybe you have an interdisciplinary background or you’re interested in exploring new disciplines – you’ll be free to play with form and follow the story wherever it takes us. Flexible format to accommodate participants with varying desires around participation, whether they are interested in leaning into collaboration and sharing, or working more solitarily and introspectively.
