BILL VANVLACK

The family of Bill VanVlack is heartbroken to announce his unexpected passing on January 4, 2024 at the age of 72, at Belleville General Hospital from complications of Covid.

Bill was the loving and devoted husband of 48 years to Anne (nee Bongard), proud father of Jaime King (Jamie), Christopher (Jenifer), and loving grandfather of Jordyn, Dylan, Kayla, and Sawyer. Bill was predeceased by his beloved sister Johan DeRoche, father Ross, and mother Marie.

Willis Dale VanVlack, affectionately known as Bill, Dad, Poppa and Opa, was born in 1951 in Picton. He grew up on the four-generation family farm in Cressy and for all his life remained a “Cressy boy” at heart. He partnered with his father to manage the farm, and true to his Dutch ancestry, the farm buildings and equipment were always neat and well-maintained. After the sale of the farm (now owned by Fifth Town Cheese and Maw’s Lakeview Orchard), Bill turned his skills to caring for other people’s property through P.E.C. Homewatch until his retirement in 2020.

Friends and family will always cherish Bill’s considerate nature, playful yet mischievous humour, unwavering dedication to family, and his captivating storytelling. Even in his last days, he continued to regale the nurses at Belleville General Hospital with his tales.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date. If desired, donations to the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation “Back the Build” would be appreciated.
