Frank passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 12, 2026, with family and friends visiting him during his last days at the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital. Son, Stephen was by his side when he passed. Frank was the proud father of Stephen Sargeant (Dawn), Mark Sargeant, Paul Sargeant, and David Bennett (Cathy), all of Georgetown. He had a special bond with previous daughter-in-law Jennifer Sargeant of Georgetown. He is survived by six grandchildren: Brittany, Ethan (Paulina), Rachel, John, Clare, and Bennett and three great grandchildren: Oliver, Levi, and Abigail. Also left to mourn is his sister Sharon Sargeant Woodley and brother-in-law Douglas Woodley of Waterloo and his three nieces: Hannah, Vivian, and Charlotte. Frank was predeceased by his best friend and partner of over 20 years, Eleanor Osterlee (1936-2026) of Picton, formerly of Bloomfield. He leaves many friends behind: all those who were at Eleanor’s funeral, found out Frank was in the hospital dying and went to visit him. The family is forever grateful to Ron Struthers and his wife Charlene for the friendship and care they have given to both Eleanor and Frank over these past few years!
Frank was born in Toronto in 1931. He quit school at age 16 and became a surveyor for the construction of new provincial roads. Although he loved this outdoor work with lots of travel, he didn’t stay win it when offered a supervisory position. Frank worked at Dow Chemical for many years but left because he read about the negative effects of some of their chemicals in the world. He went to night school and got a diploma in accounting and worked for the City of Toronto in the Roads & Traffic Department for 27 years. After retirement, in his sixties, he chose Picton as the perfect place for him to be happy. Frank enjoyed his last years singing in the choir, going to Bible study and attending the services at St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church. For many years, he and Eleanor would also attend many suppers and activities at her church, Emmanuel Baptist Church in Bloomfield. Frank loved to sing and for a few years belonged to a Barbershop Gospel Quartet. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and all the staff at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital for their loving care for Frank over the past few months and especially during his last days.
