Herbert John Cooper

We announce the passing of Herbert John Cooper at the Picton Hospital on March 20, 2025, in his 91st year. Born and raised in Bloomfield, Ontario, Herb spent his entire life in the community he loved. At eighteen, he joined the family business, Cooper Lumber, and continued the tradition with dedication and purpose. After the original sawmill was lost to a fire in 1969, Herb pivoted with determination, re-opening the business to manufacture pallets. He successfully owned and operated the company until its closure in 2021, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and resilience. Herb will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Karen Selick, and his daughters, Brenda and Heidi Cooper. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his boundless energy, curiosity, integrity, and unshakable hope. Herb was a wonderful man who touched the lives of many in Prince Edward County over his 90 remarkable years. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Bloomfield Town Hall on Saturday, May 24th, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 p.m. All are welcome to come and share memories of a life well lived. Online condolences, photos and memories can be shared at www.milestonecremation.ca
