It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jane Elizabeth Buchanan Hardie, in her 62nd year. Jane passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Monday, February 23rd, 2026, at Hospice Prince Edward. Cherished daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Hardie. Survived by beloved spouse, Donald Reid, with whom they shared the past twenty-eight years together in happiness. Adored mother of Logan Reid (Sheldon). Survived by brother: Bill Hardie (Trudy), and predeceased by siblings: Tom Hardie, and Margaret Anderson. Jane will be deeply missed by her many nieces and nephews. It is with sadness that we also acknowledge her nephew, Blake Anderson, who predeceased her.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Jane understood how deeply passionate she was about her work as an advocate. She also found great joy in cooking, always making sure everyone had more than enough. She will be remembered for her love of animals, her generous spirit, and her kind heart. Jane leaves behind her four-legged companion, Edie. 
A heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Hospice Prince Edward for their unwavering support and compassionate environment. 
Arrangements entrusted to RUSHNELL FUNERAL HOME (80 Highland Ave. 613-968-5588). To honour Jane’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Jane’s Life will be held at a later date. Details will be announced by the family. If desired, memorial donations to the Humane Society of Hastings and Prince Edward and/or C.A.M.H Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
