Jeanette Elizabeth McCaw

October 31, 1940 - December 26, 2024

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeanette Elizabeth McCaw, in her 85th year, on Thursday, December 26th 2024.  Beloved wife of the late Lex Brusse and the late Jim McCaw, mother of Debbie McCartney, step-mother of Larry, and Tom McCaw, Shelley During, Tanya, and Shari Brusse and the late Don, Debra, and Roger McCaw.  Nana of Candace, and Sean Miles, Darnell, Cash, and Chris McCaw, Melissa Hudgin, Ian Dulmage, Megan Binkley, Mandy Sellers-McCaw, Nick, Kaylyn, Jason, Michael, and Luke McCaw, Amarya Hamilton, Cameron, and Syrina Gendre. Special nana to her great-grandchildren Alaura, and Jack Miles.  Loved and remembered by her nieces Rose Brant and Nancy Dew, and by Jeff and Sheryl Brant, and Shirley Elder and her family.  Predeceased by her parents Leonard Cluting and Lillian (nee Burton), siblings Gerald Cluting and Ramona Dew, nephews David Dew and Stephen Dew, and niece Patti Craig.  Jeanette will be missed by her dear friends Tineke Dixon, Jan Syer, and Darlene McCaw, by the friends she made during her travels, by the neighbours in Milford and in Picton and by her friends and colleagues from the Cement Plant where she worked for more than 40 years.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Emergency Team at PEC Memorial Hospital, the EMS team that transported her to Kingson and the Cardiac Science Unit at KGH for the exceptional level of care provided to Jeanette and the support extended to the family in a time of crisis.  Jeanette was a kind and caring person who found joy in her family and friends, music and travelling.  She spent several months in Portugal each year and welcomed a stream of visitors from the County to share her piece of heaven. In the summer, she could often be found puttering in the garden, tending to her favourite lily trees or hibiscus. She was always up for an adventure and her lively charm will be missed by all who knew her.

As per Jeanette’s wishes, cremation has taken place and an interment will be held at Cherry Valley Cemetery in the Spring. A Celebration of Jeanette’s Life was held at Prince Edward County Yacht Club, 30 Fairfield Street, Picton, on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 1 PM to 4 PM.  Memorial donations to Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation “Back the Build” (www.backthebuild.ca), to Kingston Health Sciences Centre, allocated to the Cardiac Sciences Unit (uhkf.ca/donate) or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the cherished memories we hold dear. Her love and warmth will continue to guide and inspire us, reminding us to be kind, compassionate, and loving toward one another. Jeanette’s legacy of love and care will forever remain in our hearts.

Arrangements entrusted to Rushnell Funeral Homes – Picton Chapel, 33 Main Street (613-476-2450)  Online condolences at: www.rushnellfuneralhomes.
