John Wilson Flower

May 12, 1955 - July 24, 2024

After a year-long battle with cancer at the age of 69, John died peacefully and with dignity at his home in Picton, ON, with his loving wife Sherry Otterway and daughter Abbey by his side. John was the son of Marion (nee Wilson) and Lorne Flower, and brother to Patti (Wolf), Melissa (Albert), and Katie (Dave). He leaves behind four daughters Sara (Brent), Jen (Andy), Abbey (Jonas) and Celty (Vince), and eight grandchildren. John was born in Edmonton and grew up in Collins Bay in Kingston, ON. John lived with athleticism and artistry. He received a degree in Physical Education from Queen’s University and was most proud of his skills in competitive water skiing. John was long active in Kingston’s theatre community, where he met cherished friends and was a core entertainer in the comedy show The Music Hall. John had a big heart, he loved family and bringing laughter into people’s lives. Heartfelt thanks to Esther and the MAID team, Dr. Sarah Leblanc and Brad Gunn, for their amazing care and allowing John the freedom to close out his final act on his own terms. Donations in John’s name can be made to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation or your local Humane Society. Arrangements entrusted to Rushnell Funeral Home – Picton Chapel, 33 Main Street (613-476-2450). Online condolences at: www.rushnellfuneralhomes.com
