It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mireille Miramontes. She was predeceased by Bill, her cherished husband of 66 years, and darling daughter Monique. Mireille was born in St. Hyacinthe Quebec to Armand and Aline Graveline. In her teens, she and her family moved to California. Mireille and Bill met in high school, were married two years after graduation, and a decade later relocated to Picton, Ontario. Mireille had a creative, artistic, and musical soul. She was a dressmaker, crochet and needlepoint maniac, Christmas crafter, quilter. The piano was her primary instrument but she also liked to play the autoharp, ukulele, and mandolin. Her repertoire was eclectic; classical to the hit parade, show tunes and movie themes, chansons and carols. Mireille and Bill were a globetrotting team, he the planner and she the chronicler. Later years saw them become snowbirds seasonally migrating to Florida or California. They always returned home having made new friends. Mireille was a consummate bridge player and she relished her Friday afternoon lunch and bridge parties with the girls. She was also the go-to player to phone when a table needed a fourth and she rarely turned down a request. Mireille’s priority was her family and her dedication was tireless. She was the heartbeat of our home and it is silent and empty without her. She is survived by her loving sons Jean-Jacques, Gilles, and Serge and her grandchildren Adam, Marissa, Melanie, Sofie, Rachael, Jessica, and Hailey.
As per Mireille’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family Celebration Of Life Service will be held in the spring. Arrangements entrusted to Rushnell Funeral Homes – Picton Chapel, 33 Main Street (613-476-2450). Online condolences at: www.rushnellfuneralhomes.com
