With thankfulness for her life, we mourn the passing of Sheila Mae Wedekamm (nee Gregory) in her 92nd year, at St. Lawrence Lodge, Brockville. Sheila was born in Toronto, Ontario, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Florence Gregory (nee Nicholls), and was predeceased by her loving husband of 42 years, R. Stanley Wedekamm (1999). Survived by her children Shelley McGirr (Steven), Peter Wedekamm (Kathy), Alison Fagan (Dave), and Krista Pettit (Justin). She will be sadly missed by grandchildren Chris (Himani), Ashleigh (Mike), Tyler (Behshid), Krista (Alex), David (Mikayla), Matthew (Kaitlyn), Trevor (Sydney), Maddie and Ted and great-grandchildren Quinn, Strat, James, and Ryan. Sheila taught elementary school in Toronto and Ottawa before the arrival of her children. While raising her family she stayed active in the community with the ACW and Altar Guild at Christ Church, Bells Corners and as a volunteer for Elmwood School. She continued her extensive volunteer work when she and Stan retired to Picton in 1987 – after spending 18 summers at Waupoos. Sheila was a member of the Altar Guild and was the Convenor of the Friends of St. Mary Magdalene for over 20 years organizing countless dinners, luncheons, teas, socials and bazaars. She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary at PECMH for 35 years. Our family wishes to thank the wonderful Care Givers who have looked after Mom over the past few years. The MLP team in Picton, along with Kathy J, Valencia, and Melissa, provided friendship, support and much appreciated assistance. We would also like to thank the dedicated staff at The Wedgewood and St Lawrence Lodge in Brockville for their kindness and compassion. A special thank you to Lana and Wendy, for caring for Mom with such warmth, love and respect following her move to Brockville. Age and years have seen Sheila’s large circle of friends and family go before her, so it was her wish that a celebration of life take place at St. Mary Magdalene Church before burial beside her beloved Stan. The Funeral Service will be held in the Anglican Church of St. Mary Magdalene, 335 Main Street, Picton, in the Spring of 2026, followed by Interment in the family plot at Glenwood Cemetery, Picton. If desired, donations to the Anglican Church of St. Mary Magdalene, Picton or the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation “Back the Build” would be appreciated.
