Timothy Paul Valihora died suddenly on January 4, 2026 in Vero Beach, Florida, dearly beloved partner of Jennifer Pearl Goudie, son of Paula Valihora and Jerry Valihora, stepson to Judy Cornell, adored brother of Jane (Hugues) and Karen (Chris) Valihora, stepdad to Tawny-Leigh Goudie, grandpaw to Olivia, and uncle to Mark, Noel, and Lydia. He was 56.
Tim grew up in Kanata, Ottawa and on a farm in the Ottawa Valley, where he developed a permanent love of the countryside. A professional information technology consultant, Tim operated his own company, TVMG Consulting, for nearly 20 years. During his bachelor’s degree in economics at Carleton University, he took on various database-programming assignments, including contracts with Canada Post, Corel Computer Corporation, and the Department of Justice. In 1995, he took a permanent position as a Computer Systems Analyst with Agriculture Canada and went on to develop database systems for Statistics Canada, WSIB, Pfizer Inc., and Cognos Inc.
Eventually, Tim was working full time in the United States, most recently as a Timewell\IBM II management consultant. With his partner of 19 years, Jenn, he bought his lovely Clipper Road house in Vero Beach in 2011, where he enjoyed hosting family and friends. His door was always open. He was very proud to go from being a green card holder to a dual citizen in the US and Canada in 2023. Recently, realizing he probably spent too much time behind a desk, Tim joined the local golf club and was rapidly becoming one of the ones to beat at regular golf tournaments. He really enjoyed playing nine holes a few times a week to break up his busy software consulting work.
A gifted athlete all through school, Tim excelled at tennis and skiing as well as golf. He learned to ski with his family when he was 5 years old; it only took him a week to master the intermediate runs. On Vero Beach and at his Hay Bay cottage in Napanee, where he and Jenn spent the summers, he loved to spend an afternoon fishing, though he was the first to tell you he rarely caught anything. He also loved music. He played guitar recreationally with his great friend and neighbour, Nick Fitak. Most of all he loved his friends and family. Tim had a huge heart; he was in constant touch with a close circle — including lifelong friends Peter Jupp and Jeff Anderson from his high school days; Micah Lax and Paul McLeod from Carleton; and Jeff Castonguy from his early working life. He was always ready to share something over email, an observation, a joke, a music video (Queen and Rush in particular), the latest Saturday Night Live Trump impersonation, a real estate listing, or an interesting interview. He was the proud owner with Jenn of two beautiful labrador retrievers, Lilli and Twin.
Tim was a dedicated reader of The Picton Gazette and often rode one of his very fancy motorcycles over for a visit with sister Karen and family across the Reach in Prince Edward County. Since the pandemic, Tim could be found every Wednesday night at 7:30 with his father and sisters on The Family Zoom. He will be missed terribly by the many people in his life who loved him dearly. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life is planned for spring.
