The half-holiday season is here, and Picton’s places of business will be closed on Wednesday afternoon during June, July and August. The half-holiday did not start this week, as local merchants are taking today’s legal holiday instead. Next week, however, the half-holiday will be observed.
GAZETTE TO PUBLISH HALF DAY LATER—During June, July And August Picton Paper Will Issue On Thursday Afternoon
Next week the Gazette will be published on Thursday afternoon, instead of on Thursday morning, and the same plan will be followed throughout the summer months. The change of publication time is in order to give the readers of this paper news of all the happenings of the half-holiday such as ball games, picnics, etc. Throughout the summer much of the news of the week breaks on the half-holiday, and cannot be included in the Gazette columns if published on Thursday morning; the change of publication time for the summer will therefore give better service to the Gazette’s large circle of readers. Advertisers and correspondents are requested to have their copy in at the usual time.
