In late 2017 Community Care approached County council for support to apply for funding to establish social and recreational programming in the county. The funding call by the Government of Ontario made it mandatory for municipal support. Council agreed and the proposal was submitted. The approval came in April and the funding arrived in late July 2018.

The County Seniors Centre offers programming in the nine town halls as well as at the 74A King Street location of Community Care for Seniors.

The centre resulted in the creation of 1.5 full-time equivalent jobs and to date 141 seniors are members. The provincial funding is ongoing. This initiative helps to advance the provincial requirements of the age-friendly community strategy and it supports the use of town halls in The County.

Community Care has a long history of partnering with many local groups and organizations. Duplication of effort is avoided through collaboration with partners and the municipal recreation committees. We are working together to reach as many seniors as possible.

With the support of the County the Ontario Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility, The Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association established the County Seniors Centre. We help seniors live at home.
