Command Performance is Prince Edward County’s community choir. Founded in 1988 by a small group of local singers, it now has fifty members from all over the County, as well as from Trenton and Belleville.
Its Winter Solstice Celebration offers music that remembers the joy of our ancestors at the turn of the seasons, celebrated with bonfires, feasts, dance, and song. Choral arrangements summon the weather, and the spirit of the time of year, of the people and of the landscape. Some of the songs are humorous, some pagan, some vigorous and robust, others are like ice crystals, delicate as frosty breath in air.
This is a special time of year, one Canadians look forward to with delight. The first snowfall, candle glow, fireside, frosty pane, starlight, and snowflakes swirling are marked in beautiful melodies and harmonies, all with a nod to the return of the light after darkness.
Command Performance Choir is at St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church in Picton on Friday December 6th and Saturday December 7th at 7:30 pm.
Proceeds will go to feed the hungry in Belleville and Picton.
