A traffic stop on Portland St. earlier this has led to drug trafficking charges for two Picton residents, one of which is under the age 18.
Just after 3:30 p.m. Monday members of the Prince Edward County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Portland St. in Picton. Officers found the driver to be a suspended driver. Further investigation lead to the arrest of the passenger. As a result of the subsequent search of the motor vehicle, officers seized a number of illicit drugs and associated paraphernalia including the following:

A 16 year old male from Picton was charged with the following offences:
Also charged in relation to the occurrence was Jordian Smith, age 18 from Picton, with the following offences:
The vehicle was towed and impounded for a period of seven days. The name of the youth is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). The accused parties were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton at a later date.
