It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Layton Cooper, of Bloomfield, at the Kingston General Hospital on Friday, October 11, 2019 at the age of 78. Cherished husband of 50 years to Eleanor Cooper (Chapman). Father of Julie Cooper, Laurie Manzer and the late Amy Cooper Cassibo. Proud grandpa to Brandon Cooper and Chineeka and Justin Cassibo. Thrilled great grandpa to Cayden and Celena. Dear brother to Helen, Marina, Cheryl, Rhea, Wayne, Allen and Gary. Layton was born in Tangier, Nova Scotia. He worked at Essroc Cement for 40 years. Layton remained active in retirement, enjoying county drives and beach views, visiting and meeting new friends and playing bingo and cards. In keeping with Layton’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at the Whattam Funeral Home, 33 Main Street, Picton on Tuesday, October 22 at 2 pm with family receiving friends the hour prior. Reverend Audrey Whitney to officiate. If desired, donations may be made to the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation and would be appreciated by the family.
