The Prince Edward County Arts Council (County Arts) is accepting applications from Mentees for the County Arts Mentorship Program. Individuals 55+ are especially encouraged to apply! You can view the Mentor List and Call for Mentees at www.countyarts.ca/mentorship .
Andrea Dawes, the Special Initiatives Manager for Prince Edward County Arts Council (County Arts) says that the application deadline is October 11th, 2023.
This is the eligibility information. All professional artists aged 18+ are eligible to apply. However, as the program is funded by the Government of Ontario through the Seniors’ Community Grant Program, 60% of total Mentor and Mentee spots will be reserved for artists aged 55+. This program prioritizes serving artists with a permanent physical address in PEC. However, if a potential Mentor does not receive any applications from Prince Edward County residents, applications from non-PEC residents based in the Quinte area may be considered/evaluated.
Selected Mentees must be or become County Arts members; you do not need to have a membership in place to apply.
Mentee compensation is included and each Mentee will receive a $300 honorarium to help cover the costs of participating in the program.
The program structure calls for selected mentorship pairs to meet over 25 hours to work towards mentorship objectives from November 2023 – February 2024. Meetings can take place in studios, homes, virtually, or at the County Arts Lab subject to availability. County Arts will conduct regular check-ins with all participants and provide support and advice as needed.
Participants may be asked to participate in the production of a short video on the program, and in March of 2024 we will come together for a culminating event at the County Arts Lab to celebrate progress and achievements.

Prince Edward Community Care worked collaboratively with County Arts on the “Art of Conversation” project just a few years ago and it was a wonderful experience for all involved. We encourage seniors to apply to be a Mentee. Get involved. You’ll be glad you did!
