With more buses on the road than ever before, County Transit is now making it even easier for riders to plan trips.

A new integration between County Transit and Google Maps means schedules, routes, and transfers can all be mapped in one place. “As County Transit continues to grow, we’re always looking for ways to make the service more convenient and user-friendly,” Mayor Steve Ferguson said. “The integration with Google Maps is a significant step forward.”

Google Maps can now tell you when to leave to catch the nearest bus, how to get to the nearest stop, show any transfers along the route, and estimate arrival time.

If you open Google Maps on your phone or laptop, enter your destination,select Directions, and then tap the Transit icon, Google Maps will then show transit options — including County Transit and connecting services.

That means a rider who wishes to travel outside the County, from Picton to the University of Toronto, for example, can see their County Transit trip to Belleville, the Belleville Transit connection to VIA Rail, and onward TTC connections in Toronto, all in a single set of directions. 

Instead of checking multiple schedules and websites, Google Maps will display the entire trip from start to finish.

This year, County Transit services will continue through the Picton Fair and into the shoulder season, through Thanksgiving, all the way to Wellington’s Pumpkinfest weekend on October 18.

The extended summer season is made possible through Municipal Accommodations Tax revenue as well as increased support from County Transit’s Lead Community Investment Partner, Base31. The Eddie Hotel & Farm, Huff Estates, The Lakeside, the Royal Hotel, and the Waring House are all contributors.

High school students now ride free on all County Transit services with valid student ID. Free transit makes it easier for young people to get to school, work, and activities in Prince Edward County and beyond.
