A float plane pilot and passenger escaped serious injuries on Wednesday afternoon despite a crash landing on East Lake.
The plane sustained serious structural damage during the heavy landing in the Flakes Cove area near the Cherry Beach resort around 12:30 p.m.
Prince Edward OPP and Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue rushed to the scene. The first responders used a watercraft to rescue the two occupants, who had managed to escape the aircraft and secure themselves on the wing.
The Transportation Safety Board was notified of the incident.
The disabled float plane was towed to shore and in the process of being removed from East Lake by Wednesday evening.
