The top ten competitors from every age group across Hastings Prince Edward school district met last Wednesday at Lakeshore Lodge for the final district cross country races. Fifty boys or girls assembled at the start line, and, in every case, fifty returned in an exciting series of races. Pictured, above, the Grade 5 boys set off in what turned out to be a false start: three competitors stumbled and fell in the fray.

The entire group was called back and reassembled to start again. Racers benefited from stunning weather and the park’s always stunning location. Hamburgers were cooking all day, and parents, teachers, racers, and staff enjoyed a day out of doors.
