The Biblical story of Easter will once again come to life at Bloomfield’s Emmanuel Baptist Church this weekend.
Actors will be presenting a live re-enactment of the arrest, crucifixion, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ to three different audiences. The multimedia presentation will also include music and video.
The first performance will take place Good Friday at 7 p.m. and the second show will be Saturday at 7 p.m. A third presentation will take place Easter Sunday morning at 11 a.m.
The church warns that due to some graphic depictions of what happened to Jesus, the content may not be suitable for young children. Childcare will be provided for infants up to Grade 3 students.
Pastor Peter Spragg said the event is a good way to mark the most important liturgical weekend of the year.
“Easter is central to Christianity and this is a tremendous opportunity to go back 2,000 years and be a part of the events that changed the world,” he said.
Spragg will also share his Easter message during the celebrations.
