Escape Camp Picton, the County’s popular escape room experience, has moved online. With social distancing restrictions in place for the foreseeable future, the group has adjusted their activities so people can enjoy this unique experience from home.
The online escape rooms experience will be an online offering of their popular game “A Spy’s Workshop”. Bookings are available immediately, with events beginning June 1.
For those wondering, an escape room is an immersive adventure game in which players must work together to find clues and solve puzzles to achieve an objective in the story of the game. Players “escape” when they have solved all of the puzzles within a specified time. Escaping relies on cooperation, teamwork and thinking outside the box for your best chance of a successful escape.
Players can now use clues to solve puzzles and save the world from the comfort and safety of their own home. Participants will engage through Zoom while an in-room character explores the escape room at Camp Picton on the players’ behalf, responding to the players’ instructions and questions.
“We have had so much fun testing this experience with players and can’t wait to share it,” said General Manager Julianne Snepsts. “We’ve worked hard to preserve the immersive experience that we offer at Escape Camp Picton by adding multimedia components and a bit of theatricality to the online experience. It’s a unique way to play the game and a great way to connect with friends and family in this time of isolation.”
Escape Camp Picton had hoped to launch their second season of live escape rooms at historic Camp Picton in March, but were unable to due to the COVID-19 crisis.
Camp Picton is located just outside of Picton at the WW2 Royal Canadian Airforce training base. The escape room games are inspired by this history and include historical artifacts and reproductions.
Escape Camp Picton is the brainchild of Glen Wallis, Susan Wallis and their daughter Vanessa B. Rieger plus Julianne Snepsts and Paul Snepsts. With extensive experience in design, fabrication, entertainment producing, visual art and business, this team of creative entrepreneurs have developed an immersive escape room business at historic Camp Picton.
