A passing rain shower on Sunday was no match for the dedicated members who offer their wares at the weekly Mustang Drive-In PEC Trunk Show.
With the second year of trunk shows almost under their belts, owners Dawn Laing and Drew Downs are glad to not have COVID restrictions for this years trunk shows and attendance has been on the upswing over the course of the summer.
“Its been pretty well attended over the summer with the exception of a handful of Sundays,” Laing said to The Gazette. “This will be our ninth Sunday and our second year of doing this trunk show and its just been so nice operating not within the restrictions of covid, allowing people to walk any direction they want. The last year there was so many restrictions on market.”

The Mustang has been hosting trunk shows every Sunday since early July and are closing out the summer season Aug. 28.
“Attendance was a little bit funny this past week because the pending storm and then some vendors were no-shows,” stated Laing. “But I feel like the feedback we got from most vendors was it was some of the best days they had which is good. Three of our vendors sold out completely.”
With over 70 vendors to visit with and interact, there’s some thing for every fancy from flea market/yard sale type items to vintage and craft/artisan pieces. Food vendors are also present for the show.
The show is free to attend and music provided by Benni Vander & Friends.
The Mustang Drive-In PEC Trunk Show runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday with the last admittance at 3:30.
Laing expressed their gratitude for their staff/team members for all they do, especially for the trunk shows.
“One thing I’m particularly proud of in terms of the trunk shows, beyond the amazing vendors we have, is our staff,” Laing said. “What people might not know is most of our staff range in age from 14-30 and our trunk show team there are kids from the county, kids from the Tyendinaga First Nation, there are kids from Toronto whose families moved here for the summer and they have no friends and join the drive-in to meet other kids their age. So there is this whole other element of the drive-in especially on Sunday trunk shows where my whole team is young, optimistic, learning about entrepreneurship from the vendors and learning about having their first summer job. It’s such a cool, fun thing to be a part of and even as a vendor your contributing to kids learning and experience and its such an even playing field for all of them.”
