Prince Edward County Fire & Rescue remained at the scene of a stubborn shed fire at 2245 County Road 49 for most of the morning on Tuesday, August 12.
Fire crews raced to the scene just after 9 a.m. The fire was brought under control but ultra-dry conditions are have the fire department on red alert.
After the blaze was extinguished, the County of Prince Edward said apparatus and firefighters from Divisions 1, 2 and 4 responded and quickly controlled the blaze while preventing fire extension to nearby buildings.
The barn was being used for storage and was a complete loss.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
“PECFR would like to thank firefighters, OPP, Hastings Quinte Paramedic Services, and Hydro One for their on-scene support,” said County Communications and Consultation Supervisor Mark Kerr.
