A former Director of Education with the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board is facing allegations of professional misconduct by the Ontario College of Teachers.
The OCT’s Discipline Committee issued notice on July 25 that Sean Monteith is alleged to be guilty of professional misconduct between September 2019 and in or about September 2020. “Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board trustees and staff remain committed to the highest standards in student education and management of public resources. This matter is concerning and disappointing and will remain to be taken seriously as we continue to cooperate fully with the Ontario College of Teachers,” said HPEDSB Chair Shannon Binder in a statement.
Monteith was hired from the Kenora area by the HPEDSB in the summer of 2019 to replace retiring DOE Mandy Savory Whiteway. He resigned his post at the end of the 2021 school year, stating in a letter to the Board tat he wished to pursue other professional and career opportunities.
Just over a month later, on August 3, 2021, Monteith was hired by Loyalist College to serve as Senior Vice-President Academic.
Loyalist College confirmed that Mr. Monteith is still employed with the college, but is on leave from his role as vice-president until 2024.
A date for Monteith’s OCT disciplinary hearing has not been set.
