After rain washed away the hopes of hosting a hack show at Hadherway Farms on Swamp College Road on two previous days, the skies parted Saturday, Sept. 17.
A total of 30 Equestrian jumpers and their horses came from as far away as Trenton to take part in the Hadherway Farms Sandbanks Hunter Hack Show.
Organizer Sandra Karaz explained the competitors ranged in age from newbie ( first year showing for either horse or rider) for flat classes consisting of Pleasure Hack, show hack and equitation up to the 2’ level of Hunter over Fences.
The day was filled with really good rides and quite a variety breeds of horses,” Karaz told the Gazette, adding the show also served as a fundraiser for the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation’s Back the the Build Campaign. “It was a relaxed shows and everyone was eager to support the fundraiser. We look forward to provide show venues next year as well. COVID has made it difficult to offer shows on our farm but we are happy to see this event take place again.”
Judge Becca Brown from Cobourg served as the head official.
Gwen Gillingham and Channing had a nice day on the course, winning the Division I Open Hack and the Division VI- Hunter over Fences 2’.

Division 1 Reserve Hannah Shuttleworth on English Count.
Division II- Hack First Year Showing: Champion- Alaina Harper on Casper; Reserve – Amelia Baldwin on Penny,
Champion- Megan St. Germaine on Font Amour;
Reserve- Hannah Shuttleworth on Lesson Learned.
Division III- New Rider over Fences: Champion Kendra Wilson -Sprinkled with Magic; Reserve- Lana Wood on Childhood Memories.
DivisionV- Hunter over Fences 18”: Champion- Ellie Brownlee on Takes Two To Tangle; Reserve- Ally DeBourke on Devils Mission.
Division VI- Reserve Tammy Hubble on Devils Mission
