Hub Child and Family Centre able to expand offering thanks to 100 People Who Care Prince Edward County
Additional child care spaces at the Hub Child and Family Centre are on the way, thanks to 100 People Who Care Prince Edward County.
The volunteer philanthropic group presented $8,600 to Hub Executive Director Stacey Stanford last week.
The wait list for child care at the Hub has ballooned to 400 children.
“When you look at our numbers pre-COVID, we were able to offer parents just about any service almost immediately. Since then, our numbers have escalated dramatically,” said Ms. Stanford. “This contribution will allow us to offer additional and much needed care spaces.”
The Hub has space for 91 children in Picton and 38 children at its Massassagua-Rednersville satellite site. The Hub also offers in-home care at various locations throughout the County.
100 People Who Care PEC member Marion Hughes successfully championed the Hub at the group’s quarterly pitch meeting.
The group, whose membership is almost 100, meets four times a year. Each member commits to bringing a blank $100 cheque to the meeting. After a series of pitches, members vote on which cause to support that quarter. With the full membership of 100, every cause gets a total contribution of $10,000. There are 100 People Who Care chapters across Canada.
Since 100 People Who Care was established here in October 2017, it has donated over $210,000 to local charities and not-for-profits. For more information, see www.100peoplewhocarepec.com/
