The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary held their annual Volunteer Appreciation Event
earlier this month at the Wellington on the Lake Community Centre, where they honoured their
dedicated volunteers. In attendance were 85 volunteers plus invited guests, who all enjoyed lunch and
refreshments, as well as door prizes.
Greetings were brought by Peggy Payne and Shannon Coull of the PECMH Foundation, as well as Lina
Rinaldi, VP and Chief Nursing Office at Quinte Health. The Auxiliary was presented with a Certificate of
Recognition by Mayor Steve Ferguson. Guest speaker was Dominique Jones, Executive Director of The
County Foundation, who addressed volunteerism in general and how it relates to our own community.
Chairperson Susan Quaiff presented 74 volunteers with Auxiliary pins recognizing years of service as well as hours of service. A special presentation was held for Sue Law who has been with the Auxiliary for 25 years and who was instrumental in starting up the Second Time Around Shop.
The event ended with prize draws that included floral arrangements donated by Flowers By Marvin,
wine donated by Sandbanks Estate Winery, beer donated by Prince Eddy’s Brewery, and gift baskets by
the Auxiliary’s Perfectly Preserved group.
