Looking for something to do? Are you retired and wondering what’s next?
The Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association has many programs available for seniors. These include Community Support Services that bolster the choice to live at home along with Active Living Programs to help make that choice even better for seniors and volunteer opportunities that fit your interests, skills and time.
All the information about everything that we do is on our website at www.communitycareforseniors.or
We even have a new feature to our online webinars. Seniors can call in for Zoom webinars and this is free. We’ve purchased the toll-free call-in feature for our Zoom webinars so that seniors without computers can simply dial the number for free and listen in. You won’t see the pictures that some speakers show but you’ll hear what they say and you’ll have the chance to ask questions. Give it a try! You might really, really like this opportunity.
These are the webinars coming up in August that you can participate in – either on your computer or just by telephone. On August 22 you’ll learn about the Good Food Market that provides fresh produce at reduced prices and on August 23 you can play Bingo. Call the office to register or for more info on how to join with a computer or by telephone.
Chef Bill Grieve of Wheelhouse and Occasions Catering prepares our curbside pick up meals. In the winter months we can pick up at The View Restaurant but in summer the golfers are everywhere at that location – it is, after all, at the Picton Golf and Country Club. We take this as an opportunity to move the pick up location around The County. Last month was in Ameliasburgh. In August the pick up is in Waupoos. We’re serving up a scrumptious meal of homemade soup, a roll, Chicken Swiss, rice, vegetables, and lemon meringue pie for dessert. The cost is $18.00/meal and seniors 60+ can order by calling the Community Care office at 613-476-7493 by August 21. We’ll arrange delivery of this meal for people who can’t drive to pick it up.
For information about anything covered in this column, or if you have questions about services for seniors, you can call the Prince Edward Community Care office at 613-476-7493 or email [email protected]
The website has an Activity Calendar button top right on every page. That button takes you to a calendar with all the dates and it’s kept completely up to date on a monthly basis. We help seniors live at home.
