In the early morning hours of Sunday, June 6, 2021 at the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital, Picton, the Lord called John Huizenga of Picton, formerly of Wellington and Bloomfield, home. He was in his 89th year. He was the son of the late Charles & Patricia Huizenga (nee Rekker) and was the beloved husband for 64 years to Georgina (nee Hoekstra). John was the loving father of Rick (Kathleen) of Ottawa, Jacquie Dowd (Greg) of Sault Ste. Marie and Angie Abram (Jonathon) of Picton. He was predeceased by his daughter Janie and his sister Jane Prinzen. He was the loving grandfather of Quinn, Brett, PJ, Samantha, Dianne, Robyn, Rebekah and Holly and great grandfather of Lauren, Allison, Phoebe and Owen. John will be lovingly remembered by his sister Sylvia Hordyk (late Paul) of Newcastle, and his brothers Sid (Sharon) of Picton and Fred (Ann) of Enterprise and by his many nieces and nephews. Mr. Huizenga is resting at the Whattam-Hicks Funeral Home, 33 Main Street West, Picton (613-476-2450). Due to restrictions of COVID-19, the family will hold a Private Family Memorial Service at the Bethany Christian Reformed Church, Bloomfield with inurnment at Glenwood Cemetery, Picton.
