An allegedly impaired motorist with children in their vehicle was arrested and detained for a subsequent bail hearing yesterday.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, Members of the Prince Edward OPP detachment conducted a traffic stop on Lake Street in Picton and spoke with a driver.

A standard field sobriety test was administered and as a result, the driver who was transported to detachment for further testing. The driver was found to be prohibited from driving. Trenton’s Dustin Kinmond, 30, was charged with the following offences:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs – CC 320.14(1)(a)
• Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code – three counts – CC 320.18(1)(a)
• Failure or refusal to comply with demand – CC 320.15(1)
• Driving while under suspension – HTA 53(1)
• Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available – CCA2017 12(1)
• Smoke tobacco in motor vehicle while another person less than 16 years old present – two counts – SFOA.

The driver was held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice sometime on Wednesday March 1, 2023.
