County Council has established an Accessibility Advisory Committee. The committee is asking for help from citizens in the community to identify and assess barriers faced by people with disabilities in Prince Edward County.
Kevin Lockwood, chair of the committee, says that their vision is as follows: “We envision Prince Edward County as a barrier-free community for residents, employees and visitors. We believe in inclusive communities for everyone to enjoy, regardless of age, ability, language or any other factor.”
An online survey is now open to collect what people think. It takes about 10 minutes to complete. Through the survey, people can share their perspective on the physical, communications, systemic, and attitudinal barriers they or others may face in Prince Edward County.
The public is welcome to offer input on barriers at any time. This survey, however, is an initiative that will help the committee develop plans for the future. The survey can be found on the municipal website at www.pecounty.on.ca and is to be completed by Jan. 31, 2020. If you have questions about the survey, please call 613.476.2148 extension 1023 or email [email protected] .
The Accessibility Advisory Committee works with County Council and staff to provide feedback on: the County’s accessibility policies and multi-year accessibility plan; site plans and renovations of municipal facilities; municipal programs and services; and compliance with provincial accessibility standards and legislation.
More information about the Accessibility Advisory Committee is also available on the municipal website.
Calendars
Happy to report that we have received some of the BAASIC calendars. We only got 40 this year so they’re going fast. We’re still hoping people will drop some off. And we ordered 100 copies of the Milk Calendar from the Dairy Farmers and they should arrive soon.
