Community Care established the County Seniors Centre in 2018 to provide programming for seniors in town halls close to where they live. You can help us make this successful by attending the programs and by becoming a member of the County Seniors Centre. Remember that there’s free transportation to the Town Hall of your choice once you’re a member.
There will be a Seniors Luncheon Social for all seniors 60-plus at the Consecon Legion on Friday, March 8. This catered meal is at 12 noon. Reserve by the day before. There’s lots to get involve in during March. The County Seniors Centre will hold Coffee Mornings for seniors on March 12 and 26 from 10:45 – 11:45 a.m. These informal gatherings for seniors 60-plus are at the Athol Town Hall located in Cherry Valley. Drop-in for free coffee/tea to chat, meet new and old friends plus learn about County Seniors Centre programs. All seniors are welcome.
Register now for a free 10-week euchre series. This will start on Tuesday, March 12 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Hillier Town Hall. Seniors 60-plus will enjoy a social euchre hour with refreshments and prizes!Space is limited so register today.
Have you heard of “piloga”? Yoga can be modified to be safe and comfortable for anyone. Piloga is the combination of pilates and yoga designed to build strength and tone muscles while improving flexibility and fostering mind and body harmony. Gentle movements will stretch the entire body and leave you feeling rested and restored. Certified fitness instructor Maggie Juffs leads this 10 week program on Tuesdays from 11-11:45 a.m. at Ameliasburgh Town Hall. A membership is required to join the fitness class. The cost for this 10 week program is $40.
The 55-Alive safe driving course will be offered at the Wellington Town Hall on Tuesday, March 19. The Canada Safety Council developed this mature driver retraining program specifically to help older drivers improve their driving skills. This is a full session program from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $30 per person which includes a light lunch, workbook and refreshments. Registration is open to all seniors.
The Canadian Hearing Society holds free Hearing Help Clinics in partnership with Prince Edward Community Care. On Thursday, March 21 the clinic will be held at the Community Care office, 74A King Street, Picton. This is your chance to have a hearing care counsellor answer your questions about hearing loss, give information about hearing health care, provide communication strategies for hearing loss, do hearing screening, provide tips for hearing aid maintenance and demonstrate technical devices.
