Mark your calendar for Saturday, December 16 at the Milford Branch Library. The Friends of the Library are holding a special sale of musical instruments, sheet music, books, furniture and artwork. Proceeds will support projects at the Milford Branch, which wants to expand its children’s section. “With the Musical Instrument Lending Library moving from Milford to Picton, we can better serve our youngest patrons,” said librarian Kathy Empringham.
Kathy leads a popular phonics-based reading program called “Word Warriors.” Combined with other activities at the branch, it is drawing more families to the library. “In the new year, we are planning drop-in board and card game social times, active games, and arts and crafts at the Milford Branch,” says Kathy. If you don’t finish your Christmas shopping at the Milford sale, drop by the Bloomfield Branch Library to browse the “Booktique.” It’s chock full of gently used books. Fill a bag for just $5. All books were donated by the community. We’re raising money to repaint the front door at the Bloomfield Branch. In 2024, you can look forward to new programs in Bloomfield, including one we’re calling “Preserve Your Memories.” Learn how to digitize your photos, including those that may be stuck in adhesive photo albums on our scanner. We will also explore sharing photos on Google Photos. No technical ability required. The workshop is on Wednesday, January 17 at 2 p.m. Register online at peclibrary.org or call (613) 393-3400.
“Many of our most successful programs and services start with an idea or a proposal from our patrons, and we prioritize responding to the requests of the community,” said CEO Barbara Sweet. If you have suggestions or ideas for programs you would like to see at any branch of the County of Prince Edward Public Library, chat with your local librarian or connect with Barbara at (613) 476-5962.
