At the library, we’re delighted to see you at any of our six branches. With your County of Prince Edward Public Library membership, you can browse, borrow, and return items at the Ameliasburgh, Bloomfield, Consecon, Milford, Picton and Wellington Branches. Drop in and we’ll help you discover new books, share information about upcoming programs and more. Access to the library doesn’t stop there, though. The library also has several online services you can discover at peclibrary.org.
You may already know that you can borrow ebooks and audiobooks through the Libby app on your mobile device or computer, using your library card number and PIN. Through participation in a shared collection with libraries across the province, Prince Edward County readers have access to a large collection, but there are sometimes waiting lists when books are being used by others. Recently, Libby added a wide range of magazines to the collection, including popular titles including The New Yorker, Us Weekly, National Geographic , Vanity Fair and many more. You can even “subscribe” to magazines you like to read, and you will be notified when new issues are added.
If you are interested in learning a new language, give Transparent Language a try. It’s a very user-friendly language learning resource with more than 100 languages to choose from. You can even use a microphone to record yourself practising words and compare your pronunciation to a native speaker. Recently, Transparent Language has added more intermediate and advanced courses in their most learned languages, ASL course, and added the ability for lessons to be downloaded for later use offline.
If you are interested in book recommendations, NoveList is a terrific resource. Search for books you have enjoyed and Novelist will provide you with a list of related titles, or browse by genre, find award winners and explore different themes. You can visit NoveList at peclibrary.org, or check out their recommendations directly in our online catalogue.
These are just a few of the online resources you can find at peclibrary.org. You can access them all on your own device or drop into the library to use a public computer. Call the tech help team at (613) 476-5962 if you need any assistance getting started.
