It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mary Lu Johnston (nee Richardson). Mary Lu passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital, on Friday, July 28th, 2023 at the age of 85. A devoted and fun-loving wife, loving mom and adoring grammy, she is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jim, her daughter, Elizabeth “EJ ” Kolb (Frank) and grandchildren, Grace, Sarah and Jack. Mary Lu was raised on the family farm at Green Point in Sophiasburgh Township and it has remained the centre of her family, throughout her life. There, she cultivated the traits that we all held so dear, her incredible love of family, of friendships and always looking forward to the next Green Point gathering. With her greatest supporter, Jim, by her side they hosted family Olympics, Thanksgiving celebrations, Kite-flies and of course, The Farm House Christmas Craft Shows, to name but a few. All brought together by her boundless enthusiasm for life! Mary Lu leaves a tremendous legacy of family and tradition and her love of tradition is woven through the very fabric of Green Point.
