A summer that featured great live music including the renowned cover act Tommy Youngsteen and a great number of local acts at Karlo Estates comes to its conclusion for a good cause this weekend.
The Karlo Estates Thanksgiving Jam at the winery this Saturday evening is a benefit concert where several of the local musicians will come together to play for a good and well known cause.
Sherry Karlo explained that Karlo Estates will donate the musician’s fees and will pass the hat for a suggested donation of $10 to benefit the County’s own Food to Share.
“It started out as an idea from one of the artists, Chris Loane as a way to cap off the season and thank the community for supporting live music all summer,” Karlo said. “I thought ‘Why don’t we turn it into a fundraising opportunity?’ and it just grew from there.”
Food to Share is a local group of committed volunteers that takes local Prince Edward County produce and creates ready to heat meals that are distributed amongst local food banks and other not for profit organizations that work with various levels of the community such as the ROC.
“I believe strongly in what Food to Share is doing for our community and I’m really interested in seeing them introduce more plant-based meals into what they produce and hopefully these funds are going to facilitate that,” Karlo added.
The Thanksgiving Jam kicks off at 5 p.m. and goes until 8 p.m. at 561 Danforth Rd. near Wellington.
Karlo said the event adheres to all the Hastings Prince Edward Public Health COVID-19 guidelines and is capped at 100 people based on the square footage of the performance and viewing area.
“We are allowed to have pods of six people and those pods are six feet apart,” she sad.
Among those scheduled to perform include: • Chris Loane • Craig Foster – The Rickartons • Victor Cooper • Astrid Young • Trevor Norris & Stew Jones – Norris & Jones • Chris Bonham Carter • Jeremy Kelly • Tony Forbes • Debora Lynn O’Connor • Greg & Renay Weissmen ~ Telegraph Narrows.
