Entered into rest at her home, with her family at her side, on Friday, January 6, 2023, Kathryn Kent (nee Heffernan) of Picton, died at the age of 87. She was the daughter of the late Jeremiah & Mary Magdalene Heffernan (nee Freeburn) and the wife of Michael Kent and the late Oakley Craig. Kathryn was the loving mother of Angela O’Brien, Terry Craig (late Patti), Derrick Craig (Tracy) and Danny Craig (Sylvia), all of Prince Edward County. She was the dearest Nanny of Stephanie, Shaun, Tyler, Cory, Joshua and Jeremy and great Nanny of Annah, Riley, Lilah, Brooke, Jasper, Corah and Savanah. Kathryn is survived by her siblings the late Leona, late Bernice, late Ronald, Agnes of Pembroke, late Gerald, Yvonne of Barrie, late Robert, Jeanette of Belleville, Garry of Picton, Sharon of Barrie and Carol of Toronto and she will be fondly remembered by her son-in-law Richard O’Brien and her many nieces, nephews and extended family. Kathryn was a special lady, who loved her family dearly. She was often driving herself to play bingo and cards to try and win the “big money” or planning her next gathering for her brothers and sisters. She was a kind, humble, and gentle soul, who brought smiles and laughter to all. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses for their support and compassion while caring for Kathryn. Kathryn is resting at the Rushnell Funeral Home – Picton Chapel, 33 Main Street (613-476-2450). Cremation has taken place and a visitation to be held at the funeral home on Saturday January 14, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m, followed by a service in the Chapel and reception at Elk’s lodge.
