Jim Champagne’s letter of appreciation for the care he received at PECMH and BGH (Patient grateful for PECMH and its staff, The Picton Gazette, Feb. 2, 2023) has prompted me to also sing the praises of both establishments. A July 2022 accident left me with a brain bleed and a torn bicep. PECMH did a thorough exam and decided I was Belleville bound. Thier the care was phenomenal.
The nurses, doctors, MRI technicians and the occupational therapists were the best. Their professionalism coupled with their unhurried, warm verbal communication with me was five star.
My balance was impaired so I always needed a nurse to get me safely to the bathroom and even at 3 a.m. (Yes, I’m that sort of age!) they were always prompt, kind and cheerful. They even laughed at my corny jokes. The Toronto press are constantly churning out articles about how and why OHIP is so poor.
I think they should devote two pages to the wonderful PECMH and BGH. My oldest daughter lives in Wisconsin and is self employed. She pays $17,000 annually for medical coverage and it is a co pay arrangement- insurance 80 per cent and my daughter 20 per cent. She came to visit me at BGH several times and her assessment of BGH was a joy to listen to and she relayed it to the staff.
Another most grateful patient
