Ontario’s education ministry announced on Friday that students will be required to take four online courses to graduate. The averages out to one a year.
Even as a smart, university- level student, I myself often abuse the system. I’m finding it hard to stay on top of my work in my online course. How will Grade 9 and 10 students be expected to log on on a regular basis? Not to mention some students simply do not learn in a way that isn’t hands on. With the online format, there is no classroom to attend on a regular basis, no one to check in every day that you’re doing your work. These kids, like myself, will skip off downtown, and will fail these courses.
