As is our tradition, we visited the Salmon Point Lighthouse yesterday by boat on Lake Ontario This is an original structure and landmark in Prince Edward County.

It’s deterioration and lack of upkeep by the new owners is disgusting.

Previously, the Rankin family leased it out like a cottage . This building should have County heritage designation regardless of who owns it. Protection and restoration of one of the County’s few remaining lighthouses is vital. Prince Edward Point lighthouse is very similar and is maintained.

Ward Five deserves to have this historic landmark recognition and saved from imminent destruction.

Please bring this forward to Council. A lot of the County folk have similar concerns.
